Lets us take care of your Pet

Cats and dogs are treated as family; we make sure your pets are well taken care of in climate controlled vehicles that transport them to and from the aircraft. All pets are then moved to similarly climate-controlled, pressurised compartments on board the aircraft. In transit, cats and dogs are temporarily housed in larger kennels; five-star treatment for our four-legged friends.

Etihad Cargo has transported over 600 pets to various destinations worldwide. Customers transporting pets from our hub, in Abu Dhabi are strongly encouraged to make bookings via one of the local vets

Transporting vulnerable and endangered birds to their natural habitats

Etihad Cargo and the International Fund for Houbara Conservation (IFHC), one of the world’s leading conservation programmes, have recently transported a shipment of more than 100 endangered Houbara bustards for release into their natural habitats. In the past three years, the partnership between our two organisations has led to the successful relocation and integration into the wild of more than 3,000 Houbara across the world. The venture, which is part of the Sheikh Khalifa Houbara Reintroduction Programme, began in 2014, when we signed a partnership agreement. In 2017 alone, more than 2,000 birds were transported safely to countries ranging from Morocco to Pakistan which have more hospitable environments, thereby increasing the threatened birds’ long-term survival.

Etihad Cargo pride themselves on moving these endangered birds and all our live animal shipments with the utmost care and attention, adhering strictly to IATA regulations and those of the expert organisations we work with. Our involvement also supports our ongoing commitment to the 2018 Year of Zayed where the 4 key values are Respect, Wisdom, Sustainability and Human Development.

Maintaining the safety of day-old chicks

Day-old chicks leave their ideal environment with a temperature of approx. 97.5 - 98 ˚F (36.4 - 36.7 ˚C), relative humidity at around 60 per cent and air circulating at high speed. It’s imperative that as soon as they leave this climate, they are in safe hands. Etihad Cargo has extensive experience in transporting day-old chicks and hatching eggs. Our well trained, dedicated handling worldwide ensures proper pallet build up and ventilation as well as in-house EU inspection facilities in Amsterdam and Frankfurt.
